DESIGNED BY AN ARCHITECTS AND BUILDERS

BOX employs architects, builders and project managers. We have an integrated approach to design and building. Box Houses are designed to fit your site and brief by our architect Tim Dorrington, one of New Zealand's leading architects. Fortunately, Nat Jakich (our Construction Manager) is always on hand to ensure our system is buildable and good value for money.

WITHOUT THE ARCHITECTS FEES

For a totally bespoke project you’d pay an architect around $60k on design fees on a $500k budget or around 10% to 15% of your total budget. Because Box is an architecturally designed building system the design & experimenting has already been done. This will reduce design fees by about 75%.

FAST & EFFICIENT

Building a house does not need to be a roller coaster ride. One of the benefits of a tried and tested building system is that timelines can be given with certainty and shortened considerably.

QUALITY MATERIALS

Quality of materials is paramount. By keeping our design and build costs down we can spend more on quality fittings and materials. We use engineered timber beams and posts. We use Rigid Air Barrier instead of building paper. Strandboard instead of particle board to name just a few.

QUALITY OF SPACE

Our homes are beautifully-crafted modern design. We’re into simplicity, efficiency, elegance and functionality.
If you're looking for quantity over quality and size over everything else, we're probably not your best option.

LIGHT ON THE ENVIRONMENT

We are very conscious of environmental impact. That's why we think modular is the way forward - less waste, more efficient. We use timber a much as we can because it's really suitable to our environment in NZ (no steel). We are well versed in solar water heating, solar power, water collection and reticulation, wastewater treatment, greywater re-use. We can advise and design as appropriate. We don't use stupid materials imported from the ends of the earth. Right here, right now is how we like to do it.
